Let Us Know You’re Out There!

Have you been watching as our community has gone from ‘a wonderful place to raise kids’ to a haven for grow-ops, crackhouses, prostitutes and crystal-meth labs? Is something inside you saying “Enough is enough…I won’t stand idly by anymore…”?

Then let us know who you are. Together we can make Abbotsford safe for families.

Who we're voting for in Abbotsford on Nov. 15th
Nov 12, 2008
Abbotsford

Our upcoming city election is happening on November 15th, when Abbotsford voters will elect a mayor, city council and school board.

So the question is... "Who should I vote for?"

In response to that question we've put together a list of candidates who WE will be voting for, and we hope you will vote for them too. (*For an explanation of how we came to select the following candidates, keep reading...)

Our choice for mayor:
Steve Dunton

Our choice for city council: (8 to be elected)
Simon Gibson
Les Barkman
Kevin Chapman
Lynne Harris
Dave Loewen

Our choice for school board: (7 to be elected)
Korky Neufeld
Joanne Field
Cindy Schafer
Uultsje DeJong
Shirley Wilson

OK --- On what basis did we select these candidates?

As we see the major issues facing mayor and council, they are:
*crime is a major problem
*city hall needs to get its spending under control
*strong leadership and godly vision is needed in the city
*the mayor & city hall need the resolve to say "No" to things like:
-casinos
-sex shows at Tradex
-gay pride parades & fringe activist causes

The ONLY mayoral candidate who has taken a stand against gay pride parades in the city is Steve Dunton (so has Gerda Peachey, but we feel Steve Dunton has more business experience). And he is also the only mayoral candidate who has the resolve to clean-house at city hall and get serious about crime.

Steve is also a Christian family-man and businessman.

Why aren't we voting for Alvin Epp?

Despite being a Christian, Alvin has NOT taken a stand against:
-casinos in Abbotsford
-sex shows at Tradex
-gay pride parades & fringe activist causes

And, Alvin unfortunately doesn't have the experience or background required to clean-up city hall or aggressively reduce crime.

Why aren't we voting for George Peary?

He simply will not reflect a Christian agenda at city hall, nor has he indicated he has any solid plan to reduce crime or clean-up the city's financial mess.

As for the city council, you may have noticed we only selected FIVE candidates out of a possible EIGHT. Unfortunately these are the ONLY five we can endorse. Does it matter? As long as we have a majority on council, we have a chance of fixing some of the problems caused in previous years. And by the way, you don't need to vote for eight candidates on your ballot, you can vote for as few as you want.

OK, what about the school board?

The top issue here is the Ministry of Education's pro-homosexual agenda and the Corren Agreement. What about Social Justice 12? It's just the icing on the cake. You can expect to see pro-homosexual indoctrination right down to the kindergarten level in the public schools starting next year. The ONLY candidates who have been willing to take a clear stand against these attacks on parental-rights have been the 5 candidates we've selected. Yes, there are other candidates who are running, some of whom are Christians, but their stand on Social Justice 12 isn't strong enough for us to endorse them.

And finally, PLEASE remember to vote on November 15th.

Abbotsford Families United

A citizen’s action organization whose mission is to defend and promote traditional family values in the city of Abbotsford. To this end, we bring together families, individuals, churches, businesses and other organizations to provide a unified thrust in promoting these values, and become involved in the moral, cultural, and political issues that affect our city.

The following principles guide the issues we address on a municipal level:

  • We believe in policies which protect the inherent right and responsibility of parents in the raising and education of their children
  • We believe in policies which promote the maintenance and proliferation of traditional Judeo-Christian family and moral values in our city
  • We recognize the contribution of those with traditional faith-based values in the historical development of our city. We believe that this moral tradition is foundational to our city's future
  • We believe that the family, based on the marriage of a husband and wife of the opposite sex, is central to the fabric of our city
  • We believe that children are a heritage from God and a blessing from His hand
  • We believe that human life is of inestimable worth and significance in all its dimensions, including the unborn, the aged, the mentally handicapped, the physically challenged and every other condition of humanity, from conception to natural death
