Remember to Vote on November 15th 2008
Abbotsford mayorship, council, school board up for grabs
Oct 6, 2008
Abbotsford
This year's election is one of the most important in recent memory for Abbotsford residents, as we prepare for a likely change in mayor and several council and school board seats potentially coming open.
So far the declared candidates for mayor are George Peary, Gerda Peachey, and Alvin Epp. It won't be known for a few more days if any others decide to enter the race.
We expect that several seats will open up on the school board, although at this time all the candidates who will be running have not been declared. As for city council we, like so many others in the city, are waiting to see if any new faces will declare their candidacy.
The big issue this election is crime. Our polling confirms that it's the key point of concern among Abbotsford residents.
On top of that, values-issues are of particular concern to a growing part of the local population.
There is a real need for political leadership in the city, and Abbotsford citizens have expressed a strong desire to see qualified candidates emerge this election.
We are encouraging our friends and family to take action this year and vote on November 15th.
